One-Day Jivamukti Yoga, Meditation, and Kirtan Retreat
Retreats offer us a chance to step away from the busyness of daily life in order to turn inward, reflect,renew, and deepen our practice. They also offer us the important opportunity to participate in satsang, or fellowship with a community of like-minded people who are also spiritual seekers on the path toward liberation. "Albert Einstein wrote that only 'by widening our circle of compassion' will we find a way out of the violence, mistrust, and exploitation that we see all around us today." Jivamukti Yoga is a path toward liberation through compassion for all beings. This one-day Jivamukti Yoga, Meditation, and Kirtan retreat will focus on practices that help us to remember our connection to the divine and to all other beings on the planet. We'll work on cultivating compassion and loving-kindness through: 2-hour long Jivamukti Yoga Open Class with Jennifer Lenhart fellowship during catered vegan lunch and dinner study of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra: dharma talk and discussion on the 5 Yamas with Jennifer Lenhart talk and Q&A session on whole-food plant-based eating with Rob Hawkins, founder of the non-profit Plant-Based CLE Jivamukti Yoga Chakra Tuning Class with Jennifer Lenhart guided and silent meditation kirtan with Marni Task and Enchanted Hearts, Cleveland's own "Krishna Das Cover Band" Please bring: a meditation cushion (or whatever you like to sit on for meditation and kirtan) any yoga props you may need (blocks, strap, and yoga blanket are highly recommended) a journal/notebook and pen if you have one, a copy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra you may want to bring a change of clothes for the kirtan portion of the evening a resuable water bottle whatever else you'll need to be comfortable throughout the day In order to facilitate introspection and to make the retreat as technology-free as possible, participants are asked not to bring laptops, tablets, etc. and will be asked to turn cell phones off.
