Honoring our Veterans: Care Kits for Honor Flight
Who this event is for: Ages 3-9. Adult caregivers are required to accompany child participants. Siblings of participants outside this age range are welcome, but may find the event to be less meaningful and fulfilling. What we’ll be doing: Join Seeds of Caring as we learn about and honor our veterans by creating care kits for Honor Flight Columbus. HFC is a non-profit organization that honors veterans that have served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam by flying them to Washington, D.C. to visit their war memorials at no cost to them. The care kits kids create at this event - which include items like snacks, tissues, mints, and more - will accompany the veterans on their trip to Washington, D.C., Honor Flight Columbus Mission #99, which will occur on Saturday, September 28th. Families will also learn about the welcome home celebrations for the honor flights so you can choose to attend one in the future if you'd like. How to start at home: Check out this resource to get the conversation started at home. Why you'll be asked to pay a supply fee and donate: On the next page you'll be asked to pay a fee to offset supply costs for this event. These fees are non-refundable. If you have to cancel your registration later, please know that your fee will go toward our efforts to create more meaningful service-focused programs for Columbus-area kids. You'll also be invited to make a tax-deductible donation to Seeds of Caring. Every time we're able to design, coordinate, and offer an opportunity for kids to give back, it's because we have the support of families like yours. Please consider making a generous gift to help us continue to empower kids to create a kinder community with their hearts, hands, and minds. Note about full events: Check back for spots to become available at this event as cancellations occur. Seeds of Caring no longer maintains wait lists for full events.
