Community-Oriented Policing Open Forum & Author Panel
Join the Conversation! Join the Cleveland Community Police Commission (CPC) in candid conversations on police accountability in this culminating event to the Talking a Stance summer book club. As a springboard for conversation, we will use the themes covered in Jewell Parker Rhodes' story Ghost Boys (including racism, gun violence, and biased policing) to discuss how these issues are prevalent in neighborhoods across the nation - including our own. This event also seeks to bring the conversation surrounding police accountability closer to home by providing a venue for Cleveland residents to voice their concerns and ask reform related questions to the CPC and a panel of local authors that covered similar topics. Information about how citizens can take an active role in the Cleveland Police reform process as described in the Consent Decree through individual actions and with the CPC will also be available. Light snacks and beverages will be provided at the event. Bring your questions or concerns about police accountability to discuss with these local book authors: - Timothy White Sr., In the Ring - David Wilson, Tiny Topics for Mature Minds - Michael D. Anderson, Natural Born Survivor - Donald J. Henderson, Dad, are the Police Bad? To help shape the content of this conversation and future CPC events, please take a moment to share your thoughts about Cleveland Police Accountability in this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SJVMLHL Click "RSVP" to reserve your ticket(s). We invite all Cleveland community members who have a desire to make a positive change in their neighborhood to attend! The Cleveland Police Commission in partnership with Cleveland Public Library.
