ACESS (Akron Council of Engineering & Scientific Societies) Honors & Awards Banquet
On Thursday, November 7th (as part of its mission to promote education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) ACESS (Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies) will hold its 72nd Annual Honors & Awards Banquet at Guy's Party Center, 500 E Waterloo Rd, Akron OH 44319. Certificates of Achievement will be given to the best Science/Math students in 30 area high schools. Science Fair winners will also be given certificates. $500 Grants will be given to eighteen K-12 Science teachers. Four STEM scholarships will be given to students at The University of Akron and Kent State University. Mr Mark Gerberich, President & CEO, Soap Box Derby will receive the Distinguished Award of Council. David Schultz, SPE, Technical Editor, RubberWorld and Technical Director, Retired, Harwick Standard will receive the ACESS Award. EbaNee Bond, Akron Entrepreneurial Fellow, The University of Akron Research Foundation will make a presentation, “From STEM to Start Up” . Students in area high schools can start meeting with representatives of area colleges at 5:30 PM. Dinner starts at 6:30 PM. Dinners cost $33 for adults and $17 for students.
