Zac Brown Band
The story of Atlanta native Zac Brown and his band is a classic pay-your-dues story -- from sleeping in his tour van because he was broke to country/rock stardom, with three Grammy Awards and several other honors to their name. The guitarist gigged as a solo artist for several years with jaw-dropping flatpicking skills and an extensive catalog of originals, as well as an encyclopedic knowledge of popular songs. He formed the Zac Brown Band as a trio in 2002; after two indie-label albums, they saw the release of their first major-label album, "The Foundation," in 2008 (on Atlantic). That album earned them their first No. 1 single ("Chicken Fried") and first Grammy (Best New Artists). They've since grown into an eight-piece band, have released seven studio albums in all (the latest being "Welcome Home" in 2017), and are a big draw on the country, rock and jam band tour and festival circuits. "Uncaged," their fifth album, was named by Billboard as its best country album of 2012 and won the 2013 Grammy in that category. They also won a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals in 2011 for "She's Walking Away," with Alan Jackson, and have been nominated for six other Grammys.
