Terence Blanchard, Kenny Barron Quintet, Ravi Coltrane, Carl Allen

Saturday, June 24, 2017, 1:00 AM

For his film "The Comedian," the director Taylor Hackford tapped the five-time Grammy-winning trumpeter Terence Blanchard to compose and perform music that evoked the Blue Note sound. Now, Blanchard has re-arranged music from the film to perform an evening of straight-ahead jazz with his friends and heroes, the pianist Kenny Barron, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, drummer Carl Allen, and Dave Pulphus. Blanchard has scored more than 40 films, and is best known for his work with the director Spike Lee.
